Input Device: - A device which is used to make allow input data and instructions into a computer is referred as Input device.

Type of Input Device: -

Keyboard: - The most common and very popular input device which helps in inputting data to the computer. A keyboard is composed of buttons that create letters, numbers, and symbols, and other functions.

Mouse: - A computer mouse is a input device that controls a cursor in a GUI (graphical user interface) and can move and select text, icons, files, and folders on your computer.

Trackball: - Mostly used in notebook or laptop computer, instead of a mouse. This is a ball which is half inserted and by moving fingers on ball, pointer can be moved.

Joy Stick: - To move cursor position on a monitor screen. It is mainly used in Computer Aided Designing (CAD) and playing computer games.

Electric Pen: - This input device is used to create drawing directly on screen. It is also known as pointing device.

Touch Screen: - Touch screen is the most similar input device which can simply touching with finger the desired icon or menu item displayed on the computer screen.

Touch Pad: - Also called a glide pad,  or trackpad, a touchpad is an input  device  on  laptops and some keyboards. It allows the user to move a cursor with their finger. It can be used in place of an external mouse.

Web Cameras: - A webcam is a input device that connects to a computer and the Internet and captures either still pictures or motion video of a user or other object.

Scanner: - A scanner is an input device that scans documents such as photographs and pages of text. When a document is scanned, it is converted into a digital format. This creates an electronic version of the document that can be viewed and edited on a computer.

There are two commonly scanner: -

Flatbed Scanner: - The most common type of scanner, flatbed scanners have a large glass surface and a lid. These scanners work best with flat objects, such as photos and papers, but you can also place larger items such as open books onto the scanner bed.

Handheld Scanner: - Handheld scanners are small helpful electronic devices that are widely used for digitizing printed documents. Although considered lower quality scanners, small and less expensive than the flatbed.

Output Device: - An output device is any hardware equipment to display, project, or physically reproduce the results of data processed by computer. It converts the electronic information into the format, which can be understood by humans.

Types of Output Device: -

Monitor: - Monitors, commonly called as Visual Display Unit (VDU), are the main output device of a computer. It forms images from tiny dots, called pixels that are arranged in a rectangular form.

Types of Monitor: -

Cathode-Ray Tube (CRT) - The CRT display is made up of small picture elements called pixels. The smaller the pixels, the better the image clarity, or resolution.

Flat-Panel Display - The flat-panel display refers to a class of video devices that have reduced volume, weight and power requirement in comparison to the CRT.

Printer: - A device that prints text or illustrations on paper is known as printer.

Type of printer: -

Dot matrix printer: - A dot matrix printer (DMP) is a type of printer which uses pins impacting an ink ribbon to print. These printers are generally considered outdated, as they cannot create high-quality prints and are costly as well.

Inkjet printer: - It is a non-impact printer. Inkjet printers are the most common type of consumer printers. The inkjet technology works by spraying very fine drops of ink on a sheet of paper. These droplets are (ionized) which allows them to be directed by magnetic plates in the inks path.

Laser Printer: - A laser printer is a popular type of personal computer printer that uses a non-impact. They use laser lights to produce the dots needed to form the characters to be printed on a page. It is a very high speed printer.

Plotter: - A graphics printer that draws images with ink pens. Plotters actually draw point-to-point lines directly from vector graphics files. The plotter was the first computer output device that could print graphics as well as accommodate full-size engineering and architectural drawings.

Thermal Printer: - A thermal impact printer or electro thermal printer is a printer that uses heated pins to (burn) images onto heat-sensitive paper. These printers are commonly used in calculators and fax machines, and although they are inexpensive and print relatively fast, they produce low resolution print jobs.
